Treatment for Hearing Loss

There are different treatment options, depending on the type of hearing loss you have.
For conductive hearing loss
- Medicines to treat ear infections, such as antibiotics.
- Procedures such tympanoplasty, which fixes a torn eardrum, tympanostomy, which inserts ear tubes, or surgery, which removes tumors.
- Procedures to remove items from your ear canal, such as earwax
For sensorineural hearing loss
- Medications to lessen swelling in your cochlea hair cells, such as corticosteroids [8]. (Exposure to loud noise can harm the hair cells in your cochlea.)
- Hearing aids to manage the condition, such as cochlear implants
For mixed hearing loss
- The precise problems impacting your outer, middle, and inner ears will determine the appropriate treatments.
