Baby Eczema (infantile eczema)

Eczema is a sensitive skin condition in babies. Treatments usually involves
- Identifying and avoiding skin irritants
- Stay away from environments with extreme temperatures
- Bath your baby in warm water and apply a cream or ointment while the skin is still damp.
It is important to see a pediatric if you don’t see any changes in your baby’s eczema after following any of these steps. A pediatrician may prescribe a drug to control the rash or treat an infection. Your health care provider may also recommend an oral antihistamine to help reduce the itch and cause drowsiness, which may help with nighttime discomfort and itching. The type of antihistamine your doctor prescribes depends on the severity of the condition. The drowsiness that occurs due to antihistamine may negatively affect the school performance of your child.
