Showering and Bathing Tips for Eczema

Use mild soaps and avoid hot temperature

The most common skin care products for eczema are the ones without dyes and scents. These ingredients can irritate the skin. Doctors advise patients with eczema to use mild or skin sensitive soaps. What makes a soap right for use are the ingredient it contains, additional ingredients and application directions. Most mild soaps [2] have neutral PH and lack of harsh detergents [3], they allow the skin heal without stripping away any natural oils or barriers. They are safe for children and adults.

When the temperature of a water is too hot, it can remove oils from the skin. This makes the skin dryer and exacerbates symptoms. Doctors advise patients to use warm water instead of hot ones. Experts recommend a temperature of 27 to 30°C. Temperatures higher than this range can dry out the skin and re-activate inflammation.
