Eye Infections
Several eye infections can cause blurred vision in individuals. Many of these conditions require immediate medical treatments, depending on the symptoms. Examples of these eye infections are conjunctivitis, uveitis, orbital cellulitis, and keratitis.
Conjunctivitis [2] is a viral or bacterial infection that negatively affects the blood vessels in the membrane around the eye. Blurry vision, eye discharge, and pink or red eyes are common symptoms of conjunctivitis. Uveitis does not mean a specific disease but a general term referring to a group of eye inflammation diseases, characterized by blurred vision or vision loss, floaters, sensitivity to light, eye pain, and red eyes. Orbital cellulitis, also known as post-septal cellulitis, is a serious eye socket infection caused by bacteria, leading to inflammation of muscles, fat, or connective tissue located within the orbit. Signs of orbital cellulitis are eye pain, swollen eyelids, dim or blurred vision, and bulging eyes. Keratitis means the inflammation of the cornea, and symptoms include blurred vision, tearing, and more.
