Onions

Onions have strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that make them useful in treating ingrown nails. They can quickly help reduce pain and swelling in the affected area. They are also useful in preventing infection of toenails with bacteria. Onions contain allicepin, which is a compound with strong antifungal properties that can help inhibit fungal growth [5] in the ingrown nail.
To use onions as a remedy, first cut them into slices. Apply the sliced onion directly on the ingrown toenail. Use a sanitary gauze or bandage to hold it in place and leave it overnight. Do this once every night before going to bed.
