What Causes Headaches?

Insufficient Sleep and Over-Sleeping

There is a myriad of dangers to the health caused by lack or deprivation of sleep. Research has shown a direct link between poor sleeping habits and frequent headaches because sleep helps renew the body with strength and high tolerance to pain. A study conducted in 2015 showed that people lacking sleep were more susceptible to feelings of pain than those who had enough sleep. [5]

There is no gainsaying that sleep is crucial to be at your best energy level and overall mood during the day. However, research has also shown that too much sleep may also cause headaches due to its cranial nerves. [6] People prone to headaches may experience it when they sleep for too long or observe long siestas, disrupting nighttime rest. Hence, there must be a balance in the regular hours of sleep between seven to nine hours daily. [7]
