Mediterranean Diet

The Mediterranean diet is based on the traditional cuisines of Italy, Greece, and other countries that border the Mediterranean Sea. [5] This diet type is healthy and is also suited to controlling high blood pressure and maintaining heart health.

This diet consists largely of plant-based foods such as vegetables, legumes, whole grains, fruits, nuts, seeds. Other foods like traditional herbs and spices, also make up the foundation of the diet. Olive oil is the primary source of added fat in this diet.

The Mediterranean diet includes:
