5 Low Hemoglobin Symptoms You Need To Know

Paleness

Paleness or a pale skin is another common sign of low hemoglobin. [2] The hemoglobin present in red blood cells is responsible for giving blood its red color. Therefore, low levels of hemoglobin would affect the color of blood. This paleness can occur in every part of the body or be limited to an area of the body. This includes:

  • Gums
  • Face
  • Nails
  • Lower eyelids or inside the lips

Normally, the inside layer of the lower eyelid should be a bright red color. However, if it is a yellow color or a very pink color, this may indicate low hemoglobin levels.
