Common Treatments

The risk of developing hemorrhoids reduces when the stools are kept soft. With the right nutrition and diet, physical activity and exercise, maintaining healthy body weight, going to the toilet when you need to, and making sure to avoid over-strain when using the toilet. By following these preventive measures, you reduce your risk of hemorrhoids. However, although hemorrhoids can go away on their own, there are certain treatments and remedies that can relieve pain and discomfort, and also treat hemorrhoids. They include:

Soothing wipes

When you use toilet papers to wipe or clean up after a bowel movement, it can cause further irritation and worsen existing hemorrhoids. The use of wipes instead, would help clean your private area and still prevent irritation. There are wipes, which are soothing and contain anti-hemorrhoid ingredients such as aloe Vera that would ease pain and irritation. It is important that these wipes do not contain perfume, alcohol, or any other substances that can serve as irritants.

Cold compress

The application of cold compresses or ice packs to the anus for 15minutes per time may help reduce swelling. In cases where the hemorrhoids are extremely painful and large, this can be a very effective treatment. It is important to note that the ice or whatever is being used should not be applied directly to the skin in its frozen state. It should be wrapped inside a paper towel or a cloth first.
