What Causes Hemorrhoids?

Too Much Sugar

Eating sugary foods in excess haa been linked to the development of hemorrhoids. [6] Too much sugar often leads to constipation, which can cause hemorrhoids. Although sugar does not directly cause piles, a diet that consists of mainly sugar-sweetened foods may aggravates piles and worsens the symptoms.

It is best to replace sugary foods with fruits, vegetables, and other high-fiber foods.

Obesity

Obese people are at a high risk of developing hemorrhoids because the excess fat may cause blockage in the veins and blood vessels in the rectum and anus. Persons who log around excess weight in the abdominal region are very susceptible to develop recurrent piles.

Significant weight loss in an obese person will reduce pressure or stress on the blood vessels in the anal region, reducing the risk of developing piles.
