Common Symptoms of Hiatal Hernia

Acid Reflux

Pressure on the esophageal sphincter can force stomach acids up into the esophagus. This backflow of stomach acid into the esophagus is called acid reflux [3]. It is more likely to happen in people who have hiatal hernias. The tightening of the diaphragm muscles on the stomach can cause pressure in the stomach which causes stomach acids to flow towards the esophagus. Acid reflux is often bitter-tasting and can be very sharp on the teeth. Acid reflux can often be helped by taking medication or using other remedies.
