Blood in urine
Blood in urine, also called hematuria, may be caused by many health conditions. Kidney disease is one of them. Depending on the level of damage associated with the kidney disease, the blood in the urine may be too small to be noticed with the eyes or plenty enough to turn one’s urine crimson.
The kidneys filter waste from the blood. Damage at the interface where this occurs can cause some blood to leak through the filters and mix with urine. Blood in the urine, especially when noticeable with the naked eyes, is usually indicative of significant kidney damage [6] and should be treated as a medical emergency.
Hematuria may also occur as a symptom of other health conditions unrelated to kidney disease. It is hard to tell without a proper diagnosis, so you should always see a doctor. Regardless of the exact cause, blood in the urine is a serious health problem that should not be treated with levity.
