7 Signs You May Have Kidney Stones

Frequent Urge to Urinate

The presence of a stone in your kidney might prompt the urgency to go to the toilet more frequently than normal. This shows that the kidney stone has lodged somewhere in the lower parts of the urinary tract. In some people, the urine may only come out in trickles or small amounts, if at all. This symptom might resemble those of a urinary tract infection barring other symptoms of kidney stones.

Blood in the Urine

Kidney stones may also manifest in the presence of blood in one’s urine. The amount of blood may vary, sometimes being so microscopic that the doctor might need to take the urine sample to the lab to detect the blood cells. The cause of the bleeding may be due to abrasion by the stone in the urinary tract, resulting in urine that appears dark brown or pale red in color. The condition is clinically known as hematuria. Blood in the urine seems a serious cause for concern, and of course, you need to get yourself checked up immediately when you notice it. Timely treatment would be helpful in stopping it. [4]
