Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis (also called wear-and-tear arthritis) [5] is a chronic disease of the joints. It is caused by the breakdown of the cartilage surrounding the bones at the joints. It typically affects older people, but it can happen to adults at any age.

Osteoarthritis affects the joints of the fingers, hips, and knees. It is characterized by pain, swelling, and stiffness that worsen when you move. This disease is a leading cause of knee pain in adults over the age of 50. It is an ongoing condition that can only be managed, not cured. Nearly everyone will develop it if they grow old enough.
