Laryngitis – Signs & Symptoms

Dry and painful cough

Cough occurs commonly with laryngitis. This cough is often very dry. It causes chest pain during the process of coughing.

Laryngitis often resolves on its own promptly. But in rare cases, it may persist for several weeks. In this case, you should book an appointment with a physician. Preferably, book an appointment with a physician if symptoms last for more than 2 weeks.

The treatment of Laryngitis[2] is supportive. They include advice to rest the voice by reducing vocal interactions, drinking plenty of water, stopping clearing of the throat, staying away from alcohol and cigarette. Patients are also advised to limit their caffeine intake.
