Acute laryngitis is easily treated as the symptoms tend to leave after two to three weeks. The symptoms for chronic laryngitis are usually persistent and may require special treatment to treat the underlying conditions. Some of the treatments for treating this condition include:

  • Use of Antibiotics: Not all cases of laryngitis require an antibiotic. Some cases however require the use of some antibiotics as they are caused by a bacteria. Do not take them without a prescription from your doctor.
  • Corticosteroids: Laryngitis basically means inflammation of the vocal cords. Corticosteroids are known to have antiinflammatory properties and they help to reduce the inflamed cords. This is used mostly in case of emergency.

There are also home remedy methods that can help you alleviate this condition especially if it is acute. Some of these methods include:

  • Hydration: Taking adequate fluids can be helpful to prevent dry throat
  • Inhaling Moist Air: You should use a humidifier which helps to moisten the air around your home.
  • Avoid Talking For Too Long: This condition is sometimes caused by excessive talking or yelling. You should avoid talking for too long or too loud so that the condition does not worsen. You should also avoid whispering.
  • Avoid decongestants
