Prevention

Different measures can be put in place to prevent the occurrence of this condition. The following preventive measures lowers the risk of having laryngitis:
- Do Not Smoke: Regular smoking puts you at a risk of developing laryngitis. You should quit smoking.
- Cut off Alcohol Consumption: Alcohol or other caffeinated drinks raises your risk of having laryngitis. This is because they tend to eliminate water from the body and this can lead to dry throat dryness. You should avoid these drinks and drink more water.
- Avoid Upper Respiratory Tracts Infection: Stay away from people who have upper respiratory tracts infection [6] and be hygienic.
- Do Not Clear Your Throat: The more you clear your throat, the more you cause your throat to secrete more mucus which can cause irritations.
- Eat Healthy Foods: You should look out for foods and fruits with high contents of vitamins. You should stay away from spicy foods as they can lead to reflux of acids towards the esophagus.
