Fried foods high in saturated fat include chicken fingers and French fries. According to a review published in Frontiers in Nutrition in 2021, eating too much saturated fat can increase the amount of fat in the liver, which over time may develop into cirrhosis. The 2020–2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans state that saturated fat should not make up more than 10% of your daily calorie intake, or roughly 13 grams.

However, you don’t have to fully give up your favorite fried dishes. Try delicious, healthier substitutes like these baked Parmesan-Crusted Chicken Tenders or crispy oven-baked fries. Try air-frying the food instead of deep-frying it if you really want the “fried” flavor without the saturated fat.
