Lyme Disease Stages

How to Identify the Stages through Signs and Symptoms?

In some cases, more than one stage of Lyme disorder may occur at a particular time and not everyone experiences all the levels. The symptoms you experience depend on the site and duration of the infection.

Early Localized Lyme

You will experience this stage between one to thirty days after infection. Its major symptom is a bullseye rash at the location of the tick bite. The rash is also one of the earliest signs of infection. At this stage, the infection is still localized in the skin and can be treated.

Other symptoms of early localized Lyme include:

  • Enlarged lymph nodes
  • Fatigue
  • Expanding rashes which appear as bull’s eye, with or without an itching or burning sensation
  • Neck stiffness
  • Sore throat
  • Muscle weakness
  • Fever
  • Joint pain
  • Headache
  • Chills
