Varicocele: Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis & Treatment

Symptoms of Varicocele

Typically, varicoceles don’t show any symptoms. However, you might notice:

  • A dull testicular pain or scrotal ache that usually goes away when you lie down.
  • Swelling in your scrotum or testicles.
  • Failure to get pregnant after at least a year of trying (infertility).
  • Testicular atrophy [1], or the shrinkage of your testicles.
  • Little bump just above the damaged testicle.

Larger varicoceles may feel or appear like a bag of worms or like spaghetti. They could result in minor aches and pains. Smaller varicoceles could be difficult to see or feel.
