What Are the Different Grades of Varicocele?

Grading is used by healthcare providers to identify and score varicoceles:
- Grade 0. This kind of varicocele is the tiniest. On an ultrasound, your doctor can see it even though they can’t feel it during a physical examination.
- Grade I. The varicocele cannot be seen by your healthcare professional, and they can only feel it when you use the Valsalva maneuver.
- Grade II. Even when you are not doing the Valsalva manoeuvre, your doctor can feel the varicocele, but it is still not visible.
- Grade III. The biggest varicocele is this one. It’s clearly visible and palpable to your provider.
