Depression Symptoms and Warning Signs

Loss of Energy

People often feel fatigued, physically drained, and sluggish when they are in a state of depression. The body could also feel heavy and small tasks could be difficult to complete. Loss of energy in depression is connected to diet, stress, sleep problems, and medications.

Research [4] shows that several individuals with depression and other mental health problems like bipolar disorders experience hypersomnia and insomnia. When a person cannot get enough sleep, there becomes a problem with the body’s regenerative system. People who are depressed have a low quality of sleep, which plays a significant role in the loss of energy.

A poor diet is also a cause of the loss of energy. Individuals that don’t eat enough are prone to fatigue, which is a symptom of a depressed state. In certain individuals, medications like antidepressants can cause fatigue.
