Spiritual Depression: Symptoms, Causes Treatment and More

What Are the Symptoms of Spiritual Depression?

Although there may be no specific signs of spiritual depression, most people with the disorder usually feel disconnected or lose touch with God. In some cases, you might experience some confusion or weariness about your belief, lose the zeal to communicate with God, or assume God is intentionally not answering your prayers.

According to spiritual fathers, other signs commonly experienced by people with spiritual depression include:

  • A feeling of spiritual weariness or tiredness
  • Finding it difficult to worship God joyfully.
  • Staying away from your church or church members
  • Losing communication with your spiritual fathers
  • Staying away from church activities or performing them only after compulsion.
  • Losing interest in bible study, prayer meetings, or other religious activities.
  • Inability to find joy in prayer
  • Thinking badly about God or the church.
  • Questioning or doubting your belief

These signs may result in tension in your relationship with other people. You may also lack the ability to share your struggles with your friends or partner, because you think they don’t understand how you feel.
