What to Do If My Child Has Dysgraphia

Start Cross-Body Training

Child cannot write well if both sides of his body do not function in a coordinated manner. Help your child by asking him to hold a paper stable with one arm and let the other arm do the actual pencil work.

Any activity that allows coordinated movements on the two sides of the body can provide good reinforcement. Activities that involve usage of scissors can help. Use one hand to cut, while the other holds.

Physical activities that need cross-body coordination play a significant role in developing good reinforcement. Ask your child to engage in jumping jacks, touching alternate toes, windmills, and mountain climbers.
