What Causes a Migraine?

Weather Changes

Some people who have migraines may be more sensitive to sudden changes in humidity or temperature, this is because the changes may cause imbalances in brain chemicals (serotonin). The weather-related triggers may include: extreme heat or cold, windy or stormy weather, sunlight, dun glare, dry air, high humidity… Atmospheric or barometric pressure may cause a difference in temperature inside (the sinuses) and outside the body, which may cause throbbing and then a migraine occurs.
If your migraine is related to the weather change, you can try to take steps to lessen the weather effects by the followings:
1. Note a headache diary, when it happens and how long it lasts, especially, the specific weather change for the trigger of migraine. It can help you find out the relations between weather changes and migraine.
2. You can monitor the weather changes and avoid them as if as possible. For instance, if windy or stormy weather causes your migraine, then you can stay indoors with a relatively stable temperature. [10]

Migraines are intense headaches usually identified by a pulsating feeling in one side of the head, triggered by a myriad of causes. If you can locate the cause of hemicrania, it may help to manage or prevent it from re-occurring.
