Difficulty Swallowing

Difficulty swallowing [5] is otherwise known as dysphagia. This symptom follows from the previous one, which is difficulty chewing. When food enters the mouth, the saliva helps with chewing and dissolving to prepare it for swallowing.
Xerostomia is the underproduction of saliva. When there isn’t enough saliva, food particles may be partially dry and undissolved, leading to painful swallowing. Sore throat is another symptom of dry mouth that may cause dysphagia because the passage of food through a sore pharynx becomes uncomfortable.
