11 Remedies for Bad Breath (Halitosis)

Brushing

One major cause of halitosis is poor oral hygiene. Following the regular “brush your teeth twice a day; morning and night”, would help, but might not be enough. After every meal, brush again to clear the mouth of any excesses left in the mouth from the meal. Replace toothbrushes once every 3months, and brush your teeth correctly. Get the right type of toothpaste and toothbrush to use while brushing. Use ones that would get rid of germs and bacteria, and also help with your bad breath.

Try the saltwater rinse

This is a simple technique that can help freshen your breath and rid the mouth of any foul smell. Get a glass of warm water, add half a teaspoon of salt into it. Mix the solution until the salt dissolves. Rinse and gargle this mixture around your mouth for a few seconds and then spit it out; do this three more times, consistently till your breath gets better. Make sure the salt isn’t too much, and try not to swallow the saltwater.
