Causes of Oral Thrush

The immune system works to fight and repel organisms that may be harmful to the body, such as fungi, viruses, and bacteria, to maintain the balance between good and bad microbes that stay in the body. However, cases can happen where the immune system is not strong enough to fight some microbes or infections like candida fungus that result in oral thrush. Different types of candida fungus can cause oral thrush, including candida glabrata, Candida Albicans, and candida tropicalis. The most common yeast infection that causes oral thrush is Candida Albicans.
