Home Remedies for Abscess Tooth

Ice Cubes

You can place ice cubes in a bag or cloth for a cold compress on the outside of your cheek, where the abscessed tooth is located. Dental abscess sometimes causes the gums and cheek to swell and feel sore or tender, and placing an icepack [9] on it may help alleviate the swelling, pain and discomfort. Please keep it in place for several minutes and at intervals throughout the day for a significant result. Ice can be produced at home in the freezer and it is easy to use.

Asides from a cold compress, you can keep ice water in your mouth for several minutes to reduce inflammation and improve soreness.

The ice cubes or ice water will constricts the blood vessels, and slow down the blood flow to the affected area, which can numbs toothache and relieve inflammation and swelling.

Never use hot compression in the abscess or infection area, which will just worsen your condition.
