Brushing
For cleaning your dentures, you need a cleanser made especially for them as well as a special toothbrush. Over time, regular toothpaste can erode the denture material and harm them. When choosing dental hygiene products, see your dentist for advice or look over the available choices at the store.
For effective denture cleaning:
- A denture brush and cleaner should be used once or twice daily.
- For cleaning, remove your dentures from your mouth.
- To get rid of any food or other particles, rinse your dentures.
- To protect them in case they slip out of your hands while brushing, clean your dentures over a soft surface, such as a towel or blanket.
- Follow the instructions that come with the denture cleaner, this might include rinsing the denture with water before putting in your mouth.
