Levels of teeth stains
Research has observed that not all stains are the same, there are different categories of stains:
- Mild/light stains: this level of discoloration is minimal and it is not uniformly distributed. Light brown and yellow stains are noticed at the edge areas of the crown.
- Moderate/average stains: in this stage, there are no band-like stains. The discoloration is slightly deeper and it can be found in different locations and quantities. The colors noticed at this level are deep yellow to gray or brown colors.
- Severe: at this level of staining, the stains are very obvious with very deep brown, and gray stains. It worsens to colors blue and purple with banding.
- Intractable: this is the highest form of staining observed to date. The pigmentation is intense at this level with obvious banding.
