Tooth Nerve Pain: Causes, Pain Relief, and Remedies

Use of cloves

Cloves contain anti-inflammatory properties, like eugenol that reduce inflammation and swelling. They also contain antioxidants that are beneficial to the tooth and would help the nerve pain heal faster. A 2015 clinical trial [5], showed that people who used eugenol after a tooth extraction experienced less inflammation, pain, and swelling. Eugenol is an analgesic that helps numb the pain in the area.

To use cloves, suck on them at least 3times a day. You could also grind it into a paste, and put it on the affected area.

Garlic

Garlic is a very common kitchen ingredient that can be found in almost every household. Garlic contains allicin [6] which is an amino acid. This property is anti-inflammatory and also offers antioxidant benefits. Allicin also helps clear out bacteria in the mouth that may be causing nerve pain. Chewing on garlic can do a lot of good and reduce pain greatly.

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar contains analgesic, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties that would help with reducing nerve pain. Apple cider vinegar due to its acidic properties clears out bacteria. Pour some apple cider vinegar on a Cotton will, and use it to dab on the affected area. If the area is too sensitive, dilute the vinegar in water and use it as a rinse. When using it on a child, the diluted vinegar can be dabbed on the affected area instead.
