How to Know If You Have Gingivitis or Periodontitis?
Here are some tips on how to know the difference between the two conditions:
- Age: Older people are more susceptible to periodontitis. However, gingivitis can occur in both young people and old people.
- Pain: If you experience pain when chewing it means your periodontal disease has worsened from gingivitis to periodontitis.
- Tooth condition: The teeth will remain in position if you have gingivitis. However, your gums may feel irritated, red and swollen. If you feel your teeth are out of place, it is a sign of periodontitis.
- Breath: Periodontitis is accompanied by bad breath because of the presence of excess bacteria in your mouth.
