Dopamine and Parkinson Disease- What to Know

Diagnosis

Presently, there is no particular test to diagnose this disease. There are other ways the doctor may detect Parkinson disease which are:

  • Brain scans
  • Medical history
  • Neurological examination.
  • Dopamine transporter scan (DaTscan): this test does not particularly detect the health condition, but it helps to rule out other health issues that have similar symptoms. This scan allows the doctor to know how much dopamine is present in the brain. This scan is mostly used for people who are showing little or mild signs of the disease and do not meet the criteria for diagnosis like age and gender.
