How to diagnose rhinorrhea?
A healthcare provider does not need to conduct. Rest to detect rhinorrhea. However, there are certain tests, such as rapid tests that collect a sample from the nose, and use it to diagnose some causes of a running nose. Some of these causes include the flu or COVID-19.
If your healthcare provider thinks your rhinorrhea is caused by other conditions aside from sinus or virus infection, you may have to undergo other tests. These tests include
- A computed tomography (CT) scan
- A blood test
- An X-ray of the sinuses
- An allergy test1
