Your doctor may prescribe cyclobenzaprine to relieve muscle spasms. Note the use of “may be” in this example as it indicates that there is no guarantee this action will result in a benefit. Tricyclic antidepressants and anti-seizure medications are together known as TCAs. These medications are part of the amine-class (most well known for their importance in treating depression). Treatment with tricyclic antidepressants and anti-seizure medications might be considered during treatment with other pain relievers.
The following pharmaceutical treatments are commonly used with chronic pain patients. Patients may be required to take more than one treatment simultaneously; some of these medications can be very difficult to handle and require individual patient care. Tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs), Anti-seizure medications, and other medications can be used as part of a pain management plan to relieve some of the symptoms.
