6 Signs of Sinus Infection

Sore Throat

A sore throat is a common sign that indicates a sinus infection. Postnasal drip causes aching throat in many individuals. The sore throat [4] starts as a tickle but gets worse with time. The infection results in irritation and inflammation of the throat as it drips, which causes a painful sore throat.

Sore throats are generally grouped in different types depending on the part of the throat affected. These types include pharyngitis, laryngitis, and tonsillitis. Note that pharyngitis affects the area behind the mouth, tonsillitis is the inflammation of the soft tissue at the back of the mouth, and laryngitis is the voice box’s inflammation.

Common symptoms of a sore throat include a dry, burning, irritated, tender, and scratchy throat. Individuals usually experience other symptoms alongside sore throat. Examples of these signs are body ached, chills, fever, sneezing, and nasal congestion.
