Crushing and Pinching

Blistering may occur if a small blood vessel near the surface of your skin is ruptured. This can cause blood to leak into the gap between the layers of skin causing a blood blister to form. This type of blister is usually filled with blood.
Chemical Exposure
Blistering may also occur if the skin is exposed to certain chemicals. This is commonly referred to as contact dermatitis. It usually occurs when you come in contact with the following:
- Cosmetics
- Solvents
- Detergents
- Chemical warfare agents, including mustard gas
- Nickel sulfate, used in electroplating
- Insect bites and stings [4]
- Balsam of Peru, a flavoring
