Insomnia and mental health issues

People with sadness and anxiety are more likely to experience sleep issues. There is little evidence to support the potential benefits of acupuncture.
According to a 2020 study of 90 individuals with depression and insomnia, electroacupuncture, a form of acupuncture that uses electric currents, improved:
- sleep efficiency and quality
- depression
- Total sleep time
When compared to a fake or placebo therapy, these gains were noticeably more pronounced.
Large, high-quality studies on the benefits of acupuncture for those who suffer from anxiety and insomnia are lacking.However, a 2021 review of 20 research on the benefits of acupuncture on anxiety indicated that it was superior to a placebo in terms of improving anxiety symptoms.
