Symptoms of Different Types of Staph Infections
Just as mentioned earlier, the symptoms of staph infection depend on the type of staph infection involved. Here are different types of staph infection and their symptoms;
Skin Infections
Some of the symptoms of a skin infection include:
- Boils on the skin
- Swelling, redness and pain in the affected area of the skin
- Abscess formation
- Mastitis( inflammation of the skin of the breast)
- Cellulitis [7]
- Impetigo
- Ecthyma(crusted ulcers on the skin)
Bacterial Endocarditis
Some of the symptoms of staph endocarditis include:
- Abnormal heart sounds (heart murmur)
- Fever and chills
- Muscle aches
- Loss of appetite
- Unplanned weight loss
- Swollen feet or abdomen
- Cough and shortness of breath
- Pale skin
- Tiny red spots of bleeding under the skin appearing on the cornea, inside the cheeks, the chest and on the roof of the mouth.
- Tender red spots appearing below the skin of the fingers or toes.
