10 GERD(Acid Reflux, Heartburn) Treatments

Ginger

Ginger may help reduce nausea, vomiting, and other symptoms that accompany GERD. [4] There is not enough evidence confirming these benefits, but some research suggests taking around 1.5 grams of ginger per day. [5] This is to avoid the negative side effects of overconsumption.

You can take ginger raw, boil it in hot water to make ginger tea, or use it as an ingredient in your food.

Chew Sugar-Free Gums after Eating

According to a study, chewing gum increases how often you swallow and can improve the clearance of reflux in the esophagus. [6] It also increases how much saliva you produce and swallow, which can help neutralize some of the acids.

Avoid mint-flavored gums and gums containing sugar. These can make your symptoms worse.
