4 Symptoms of Leaky Gut Syndrome

Constipation

Sometimes, instead of frequent bowel movements, people with leaky gut syndrome develop constipation. Constipation is the term for difficulty executing bowel movements. When you are constipated, you can go many days without passing stool. Your bowel movements often feel very strained and leave you feeling like you have not emptied your bowels. Your stool will also often appear hard and pebbly.

It is not clear why leaky gut syndrome causes constipation. Constipation is a common symptom of irritable bowel syndrome and some medical practitioners have claimed [4] that leaky gut syndrome contributes to this disorder. Research on leaky gut syndrome is still limited, so more studies need to be done.
