6 Common Symptoms of Stomach Flu(Gastroenteritis)

Abdominal cramps and pain

Like watery diarrhea, abdominal cramps [3] are common symptoms of stomach flu. The pain can range from mild to severe. In most people, this pain alternates between moments of extreme or intense pain and periods of faint or no pain at all. Acute pain often precedes diarrhea, although this is not always the case.

Abdominal cramps caused by stomach flu can be extremely uncomfortable and may disrupt your plans. You may take medication to reduce the pain if it becomes unbearable.

Headaches or muscle aches

If you have stomach flu, you may experience generalized symptoms such as muscle aches and headaches [4]. Parts of your body may feel sore even though you have not exercised them or performed any exerting physical activity. The headaches may range from mild to severe. This often depends on the intensity of the infection. You may feel only a persistent mild pain in your head or pain that feels like something is banging in your head.
