Rash on the body
This symptom is seen mainly in children. They present with tiny rough-looking rashes on their skin. These rashes are often red and first appear on the face. After the face, they appear in the neck and from there disperse to other regions of the body.
This rash is known as Scarlet fever[2]. When the rash spreads, it leaves an area around the mouth free from the rash. The rashes are itchy and can last for a week. They are caused by a toxin released by the streptococcal bacteria. This toxin is responsible for the reddish rash on the skin.
