Symptoms of peroneal tendonitis

Peroneal tendonitis can be acute, which means it manifests immediately, or chronic, which means it takes time to manifest.

There are a few common symptoms in both situations:

  • ankle instability when bearing weight
  • swelling at the rear of the ankle
  • pain at the back of the ankle that is worse during exercise and reduces during rest
  • the area is warm to the touch
