What other symptoms accompany throat problems?

You may experience other symptoms in other parts of your body when you have a throat problem. Other symptoms usually depend on the underlying disease, condition or disorder, like with allergies, infections, and certain digestive diseases, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) [5].
When your throat problem is caused by an infectious disease, such as the common cold, flu, sinusitis, or strep throat, you may experience the following symptoms:
- Flu-like symptoms (fatigue, fever, chills, headache, cough, aches and pains)
- Watery eyes
- Malaise
- Sneezing and stuffy or runny nose, often with green or yellow-colored discharge
- Nausea [6]
- Swollen, tender lymph nodes, typically on the sides of the neck
- Loss of appetite
