What are the causes of throat problems symptoms?

Throat symptoms can be caused by a wide variety of illnesses, such as allergies, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition that occurs when stomach acid accumulates in the esophagus. Various types of head and neck conditions may also cause throat problems. Some of these conditions include; sore throat and the development of throat growths or sores.
Throat problems can be caused by certain infectious diseases, including:
- Pharyngitis (inflammation of the throat often caused by an infection) [1]
- Mononucleosis
- Chickenpox [2]
- Croup (viral illness)
- HIV [3]
- Common cold (viral respiratory infection)
- Influenza (flu)
- Strep throat (streptococcal bacterial infection characterized by a sore, red throat and occasionally white spots on the tonsils) [4]
- Tonsillitis (inflammation of the tonsils which is usually caused by an infection)
