Fibroids vs. Ovarian Cysts: How Do They Differ?

Cysts vs. fibroids: Causes

Cysts and fibroids don’t always cause symptoms. It’s possible that you are unaware of them until your doctor does a standard pelvic check and finds them. On the other hand, they can result in a variety of symptoms if you have several of them or they grow huge.

Symptoms of Fibroid

Fibroids can range in size from tiny apple seeds to huge grapefruits. Some symptoms include:

  • pelvic discomfort
  • bloated, outstretched abdomen
  • heavy menstrual cycles may cause anemia
  • excessive urination
  • abdominal pressure
  • expanded stomach

After menopause or if you take a specific type of hormone medication, fibroids tend to shrink. During pregnancy, fibroids may grow more quickly or significantly.
