Systemic Estrogen Therapy

Systemic estrogen therapy, also referred to as oral estrogen therapy, involves medication taken orally to increase or alter estrogen levels. A common and effective oral estrogen is ospemifene. It has been proven effective in relieving certain symptoms such as vaginal dryness and pain during sexual activity in people with GSM.

In a 2019 review, [5] researchers reviewed available studies on the use of ospemifene for symptoms of GSM. The results showed that ospemifene was effective in reducing vaginal dryness, which is a common complaint from candidates with the condition. It was also able to improve vaginal tissue health, balance pH levels, reduce painful intercourse, improve sexual function.
