Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder

Diagnosis of PMDD

The symptoms that are exhibited during premenstrual dysphoric disorder are similar to symptoms of other health conditions, it is therefore advised to visit the doctor when any of these signs are noticed for proper checkups and recommendations.

The doctors perform a physical examination of the body and also conduct certain tests like thyroid testing and psychiatric evaluation in order to rule out other illnesses such as depression or reproductive disorders. A symptom chart is also used to know the correlation between the symptoms and the disorder. For a diagnosis to be made, the person must experience at least five symptoms and they must begin days or weeks before the menstrual flow.
